The Riverside District Attorney’s Office have filed felony charges against a man they accuse of driving his SUV into a protestor. Russell Alan Prentice is charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of hit-and-run causing injury, along with a great bodily injury allegation. He pleaded not guilty on June 20. He was arrested on June 14, the same day of the No Kings Rally in Riverside.
Candase Wenze is charged with one count of accessory after the fact. He has pleaded not guilty.
A black SUV drove into a crowd of protestors at Riverside’s June 14 No Kings Protest, on University Ave. between Orange and Main Streets, the DA’s Office said. The car hit a woman, who has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition, the office said.
A GoFundMe set up for the woman, Alexa Carrasco, says that she was in critical condition in the ICU, and had to undergo surgery.
Instagram user SB2MUCH posted a video of the car turning into a crowd of protestors.
A felony settlement conference is scheduled July 1 in Department 32. Deputy DA Timothy Brown prosecutes.
Case no. FERI2503353-1.
