Two student members of the Jurupa Valley High School volleyball team and their mothers filed a suit against the participation of a transgender athlete on the team on Sept. 9.

The lawsuit claims that school employees’ actions have resulted in sex discrimination and violation of the plaintiff’s freedoms of speech and religion.  The suit was not filed against the athlete. The Jurupa Unified School District (JUSD), The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and the California Department of Education are defending.
