Sam Price is making a comprehensive effort to educate Californians on probate. He has launched a podcast, Probate Notes. He has launched a blog on Probate Docs, which includes a monthly newsletter. Starting Aug. 12, he will be running a six-part mandatory continuing legal education lunch series. In October, he will be hosting a probate education bootcamp.
His goal, he has told me, is to be the center of probate education in the state, not only for attorneys, but also for paralegals, fiduciaries and real estate professionals.
Price, of Redlands’ Price Law Firm, joined the bar in 2000. He has been chair of the San Bernardino County Bar Association’s probate law section since 2020.
The first episode of Probate Notes focused on Price’s journey to becoming a probate attorney. I did not expect to be so moved by it. At the root of his effort to educate and practice probate, he says, is his own experience with estate issues resulting from his father’s death.
As guests, starting in Episode 4, he will have on Justin Fautsch of Vimvi Real Estate, Tanis Kluever of True Estate Loans, Kevin Sayles of Lawyers Title and Probate Referee Bud Garvin.
The lunch series will run from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Classes are priced at $125 each, but Price will comp the cost for the first 50 subscribers of the podcast, and offer a 50% discount for later followers.
