Leo Serrano-Loera lost his son when a Mack truck’s trailer tire blew out on Aug. 1, 2022, causing a crash on the 215.

On Aug. 28, a jury awarded him damages of $5 million, finding that the commercial operators of the truck did not maintain the tire or properly check tire pressure as required by law.

Attorneys for defendants Olson Precast Company did not respond to requests to comment.
