    • A couple files to be reunited with their minor granddaughter. The granddaughter has been in the custody of the state since Dec. 21, 2020, and her parents’ parental rights were terminated on Jan. 20, 2023. The grandparents' attorney told the child’s social worker that they wanted custody of their granddaughter on June 1, 2023. They later claimed they were not told their granddaughter was up for adoption. 
  • Joshua L. Lyons v. Jacqueline C. Jackson (5:25-cv-01720): civil rights. California Central District Judge John Kronstadt presides.
    • Lyons sues Riverside Superior Presiding Judge Jacqueline Jackson, the city and county of Riverside, Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco, and multiple other Riverside County employees on claims he was unjustly arrested, forcing him to miss the death of his mother. 
  • Pierre Stephen Simms v. John Doe (5:25-cv-00291): prisoner civil rights. California Central District Judge Sherilyn Garnett presides.
    • Simms, a detainee at the San Bernardino County High Desert Detention Center, claims the low temperature at the jail caused him to lose feeling in his fingers and toes. He also claims sheriff’s deputies retaliated against him for complaining about the temperature by transferring him to a cell where he was beaten. 
  • Quaysa Flumo v. Ricolcol (5:25-cv-01729): petition for writ of habeas corpus (federal). California Central District Judge R. Gary Klausner presides.
    • Flumo, an inmate at Victorville FCI #1, claims to have been locked in a cell for three weeks without notice or a hearing.
